88x31 badges

The Internet's bumper stickers

Remember when these things were everywhere? They've not gone away! Though, you're way more likely to find them on a personal blog like this one.

88x31's, sometimes called "Web Badges" are a fun way to link out to communities, other bloggers, or tools you care about. I've collected a few of the relevant ones to my website below.

Personal

This Blog

abmurrow.com

My personal 88x31! Feel free to use this badge to link back to my website.

Software

Emacs

Mad with EMACS

I edit the code for this website using Emacs. I've been a fan of the Doom Emacs project for a few years now and like to use it as my starter config.

Drupal

Powered by Drupal

This website is made using Drupal! I'm a Drupal contributor and I use it to make websites for a living, so it seemed natural to use it for a personal blog too.

uBlock Origin

uBlock Origin Now!

The single best ad blocking tool around! This makes the internet usable. It's good for the environment too.

GrapheneOS

Graphene OS

GrapheneOS makes a minimal, De-Googled phone operating system with a focus on security and privacy. I use it. It's great!

Community

Mastodon

follow me on mastodon

I'm a fan of community owned and federated social networks, so I use Mastodon to connect with folks online. Come say hello!

PowRSS

I'm on powRSS

My blog is listed on the powRSS aggregation service and all I got was this (cool looking) 88x31 button.

Indieseek

IndieSeek is a community index for small websites. Go check it out!

Codeberg

Codeberg

Codeberg is great! I've been using it to build and host some of my projects and contribute to others.

Political

No AI Use

No AI Use Self Attested

I don't use AI for this blog or, for that matter, any of my personal projects.

R2R

I support right to repair

You should be allowed to fix your own stuff! There are a lot of weird roadblocks on the path to manage the stuff you already own. I'm not saying there shouldn't be hardware pros Professional technicians are important! But so are randos with DIY tool kits who know how to or want to learn how to do simple fixes themselves.

Web Standards & Validation

Feed and HTML Validation

W3 offers a free HTML, CSS, and RSS feed validation service that can help you diagnose problems on your website. Most browsers are able to recover from slight semantic errors and issues, but it is still a good way to see if your markup has any glaring issues in it.

Valid HTML 5

Date Formats

The ISO 8601 (YYYY-MM-DD) date format has the unique advantage of being one of the easiest date formats to read for international audiences, which is why I use it on this blog to print out dates.
